ICT

Oberon High School has always worked hard to stay up to date with current technologies.
The ICT focus is firmly placed on supporting innovative use of technology in the learning environment.
Every classroom is well equipped with access to audio/visual equipment, and either: banks of powerful desktop computers for design use, or laptops for general use.

Oberon High School was one of the first schools in the State to run a one-to-one netbook program. Our ICT team is continuously engaged in research and development to find better solutions for the improvement of ICT learning in the classroom and in the transition from school to home.

Some current projects which will enhance future ICT Learning at Oberon:

  • Investigation into deployment of “Bring your own technology” (BYOT) – Allowing students to use their own computer devices
  • Trials of Zero Client Computers – Environmentally smart computing to help lighten our school’s carbon footprint
  • Set up of Virtual Computing (VDI) – Enabling students to log into school computers from home so they are able to continue with work as if still sitting in the classroom
  • Use of Microsoft’s Office 365 system to provide a SharePoint learning portal to students and parents which can be accessed anywhere/anytime
  • Use of iPads and other new technologies for further learning enhancement and engagement
